Eric Enge, an international SEO consultant, in an article recently published on his highly popular blog, became a web oracle "having fun" predicting which surprises Google will reserve in the new year. So here are his 6 predictions in SEO for 2014.
- The novelty called Hummingbird After the drastic changes on Google during 2013, Eric Enge, is now convinced that we will finally see Hummingbird as a protagonist this year. The new algorithm, active since last August, whose goal is to focus on searches using a semantic language. How Google will modify SERP, Enge is not able to predict it except in the form of hypothesis (analysis of linking links or maybe active presences on social networks?).
- Authors and ranking Significant potential changes may occur in SERPs for authors in case a search is made using their names. It is very probable that analytical content will be privileged.
- Voice search Thanks to Hummingbird semantics will have increasing value in order to favour vocal searches, used by the many users who surf with mobile devices.
- Google+ Google's social platform grows exponentially in terms of participation but it is still lacking in certain aspects and, certainly, this will be one of the areas where Google will invest more resources, keeping in mind that since 2013 the contents published through Google+ are present in the SERP.
- Guest post and SEO Eric Enge is absolutely convinced that Google will lead their battle into the final stages against guest blogging in 2014, used for SEO purposes and accompanied by incorrect link building practices, which Matt Cutts states in a very recent article, are considered like spam.
- Websites and mobile devices Users surfing the internet on smartphones and tablets account for more than 20% of internet traffic on Google. Hence the absolute need to be present on the web with ad hoc built sites, to avoid real and heavy penalisations.
