Error 404: horrid bad broken links!

The 404 error, also referred to as File Not Found, which all Internet users encounter sooner or later, is a code indicating broken links on the Web.

Technically, it's a HTTP protocol that communicates that the internet connection is working and the communication with the server is active, but the server has not been able to find the resource that was requested and therefore could not complete the action. This type of problem is very common online; not working links, also called broken links, are commonplace. In fact, it is sufficient that the final location of a hypertext link is modified, even by a single letter, to create a non-functioning hyperlink. Deleted items, blogs moved and tweets changed? These things happen every second. To give you another example, the 404 error happens frequently when e-commerce sites offer promotions that are later deleted; if someone puts in a blog or a web site to a link to the promotion , once this is offline it will no longer be reached and it will generate the dreaded 404 error.

Since a high percentage of web navigation is formed by links, it is very important that the links encountered are fully functional; there are services that automatically check if there are any broken hyperlinks on Web sites that we recommend replacing or removing them. The practice of checking your hyperlinks' health status should be taken into greater consideration, in order to obtain a more accessible Web for everyone. Not to mention that running into a 404 error is really frustrating!
