Link Building 101 through past and present relationships

Link Building is one of the basic tasks to give visibility to your site. This is not a simple job, because we need to make sure that other sites sponsor ours so as to create a sort of virtual chain that leads back to us.

To achieve this goal, we must consider link building as a long-term project that requires a constant effort. Deciding to spend a few hours, just spamming links, is not a viable option because, although it may seem like a quick fix, it's not appreciated by the owners of the other sites or search engines, based on algorithms that do not recognise the value of the link and therefore do not reward incorrectness. No matter how interesting and useful our site may be without a good link building at the base, we will not get good web visibility, and will consequently receive fewer visits. To indicate external links that lead back to our site we use the term "backlink".

Backlinks are considered favourably by search engines but not all have the same value. Some are more important, that is they are considered more reliable because they come from the most famous or otherwise authoritative sites in a certain field. In any case, a good strategy to use is to cultivate relationships: marketing is based on the ability to forge strong relationships, and this is the area where we should focus. First of all, it is good to distinguish between past and current relationships. In fact, they will have to be treated differently. As for the former, you must first check that links work: especially if it is particularly old relationship, the link may incur connection problems, hijacking users onto a non-existent page (the so-called "404 error") rather than to your site. One of the main ways to create new relationships, however, is based on the so-called "Engagement ", literally sharing. This is a new marketing strategy based on the concept that the best results are recorded by interacting with sites and users, showing that they are open to advice and comments.
